Hello, dear friend,
If you are a sensitive or highly sensitive individual, I’m happy you’re here.
Today, we’re going to discuss slowing down, nervous system care, and how Reiki and nature-based practices, such as snail-time, can gently support sensitive individuals who feel overwhelmed by modern life.
This space is especially for those who feel drained, rushed, emotionally overloaded, or disconnected from their natural pace.
What Sensitive Individuals Truly Need to Thrive?
Sensitive individuals have sensitive nervous systems that require special care. One of the requirements for sensitive individuals is to have a schedule and lifestyle that suits their nervous system.
When we live our life according to our internal pace, there are high chances for our mind to recover and enjoy life. Although I wouldn’t like to generalise, when sensitive individuals push themselves to do something, it can affect them negatively.
First, it can make them use up too much energy at one point, which can lead to feeling drained quickly.
Secondly, it can make them feel as though they need to bring out their inner Superman or Supergirl to complete tasks. At first, this can seem fascinating, but soon it can become overwhelming.
All that push and energy outflow can make sensitive people feel sick, irritated, overwhelmed, and tired.
As sensitive individuals or highly sensitive individuals, it is important to understand that our systems work differently. We are wired for work that happens through and after much rest.
Why Slowing Down Is Essential for Sensitive Nervous Systems?
The issue with modern schedules is that they don’t give us time to breathe or catch up with our body’s natural pace. They can make us feel overburdened, as though we are on a treadmill running at the speed of 8.0.
As sensitive people, our goal cannot be to stay on that treadmill all day long. Rather, our schedules must include flexible rest periods, where life feels more like a moderate walk or a gentle brisk walk when action is needed.
Modern schedules often make sensitive individuals feel they must adjust their body–mind–soul rhythm to match the rest of the world. This can be extremely tough, especially if we are not surrounded by other sensitive individuals.
I empathize deeply with those who feel they have no choice but to stay on that fast treadmill. I want you to know: you do have a choice. And that choice begins with consciously slowing down.
How to Slow Down Using Nature, Snail-Time, and Reiki?

One of the ways to slow down is to go into nature and be close to snails.
Yes, you heard me right, dear friend.
One of the ways to honour our speed and pace is to spend time with beings who honour their pace and speed too.
I’ve had the fortune to observe snails and play with them. As a highly sensitive person, I find that snail-time defies clock time. It slows time down in a way that truly serves our nervous system.
When we spend time with snails, we pause. We realise there is more to life than rushing through it. We realise that pausing, resting, and reflecting are equally important.
Here, by rest, I don’t just mean sleep. Rest can look like walking, painting, gardening, reading, playing with children, observing animals or snails, or gazing at the sky.
I include snail-time as a powerful rest practice because it helps us connect with nature, ourselves, and relaxation at the same time.
When I am with snails, I feel that all is taken care of. I feel looked after. I feel that all is well.
Reiki as a Support for Slowing Down and Emotional Healing
Another way to slow down is to invest in energy healing sessions like Reiki.
Reiki has a beautiful way of soothing the nervous system. It often acts like a gentle balm, helping us feel more regulated, grounded, and in control of our lives.
The energies of Reiki can help regulate emotions and gently motivate us to embrace a slower, more nourishing pace.
As a highly sensitive individual, I have used Angelic Reiki to soothe my nervous system, recover from sleepless nights, and heal emotional and physical wounds.
In my 20s, I faced mental health challenges that led me to therapy, a bipolar diagnosis, medication, and hospitalisation. I also experienced subtle discrimination related to mental health. Because of this, I deeply understand the gravity of sensitive individuals navigating emotional and mental health challenges.
Regardless of the healing modalities I tried, nothing truly helped me heal trauma related to mental health experiences, until I began working with Reiki.
When I began working with Reiki, I noticed subtle yet significant shifts. My body, mind, and soul began accepting healing and transformation.
A Gentle Question for You
If you are sensitive, overwhelmed, or stuck in emotional health challenges, I want to ask you gently:
Why wouldn’t you want to try slowing down or healing your emotional challenges through Reiki or snail-time?
What do you really have to lose?
A bit of time?
A bit of money?
A bit of energy?
And what could you gain?
Mental peace
Rest
Gentle healing
Clarity
Love
It truly is a win-win situation.
